Work as unto the Lord
Today I read Day 7 out of the devotional journal “100 Days of Bible Promises” by Shanna Noel and we talked about working as unto the Lord.
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.”
Colossians 3:23-24
It got me thinking about what working as unto the Lord looks like, and some things that you and I can do to make sure that we are doing this in our own lives.
Talk to God
Think about how you can bless those around you
Remember that God has a plan for you
Remember that this is God’s story, not yours.
Don’t become like those you are around
Talk to God
Pray. Ask God what he wants you to do, and how you can be better at what you do. Spend time with Him and he will reveal to you the direction he wants you to go.
Think about how you can bless those around you
People will know Him because of the way you act, and because of the way they see you react in situations that may not be all that great and perfect. Whether or not you recognize it, people are watching you. Those around you should be able to see that you live for Christ without you having to say it with your mouth. Be a witness with actions.
Remember that God has a plan for you
You might be in a situation currently where you are unhappy. You might want to run away from the situation. Remember that God has a plan for you. God might be using this season to grow you so that he can use you for his glory in the future. Remember that you can’t see the whole picture.
Remember that this is God’s story, not yours.
God may place you in a situation to change someone else’s life. It’s not always all about you. There is always someone else on the other side of your obedience. Remember that. Can you run away? Can you refuse to stay in a miserable situation? Sure. But, what does God want you to do? Where does God want you to be?
Don’t become like those you are around
Have you ever worked a job where other employees were always taking short cuts or doing just enough to finish a task…I know I have and its easy to fall into that same rhythm especially when you see others do it with no consequences. Regardless of if its your job, or a volunteer position or an area where you are serving make sure that you are putting your all into whatever it is you are doing. You are taking the time to do it in the first place, so make sure that you do it right, and do it the best you can. You may think that it goes unnoticed but eventually, you will be rewarded.
…
I encourage you to spend some time looking at your life. Find some areas where you could use them to bring glory to God.
I am so glad you are here! I hope you feel convicted, encourage and inspired.
