What is your calling?
Does your life feel empty? Do you feel like you lack purpose? Do you constantly feel like you are stretched thin in a thousand different areas in your life, but aren’t giving yourself fully to any one thing. If this is you, it’s time that you figure out what the calling is that God has on your life? Where do your passions and your God given gifts collide? If you can answer that, then you are one step closer to knowing what God is calling you to do.
Maybe this isn’t you, and you know what God is calling you to do and where God is calling you to go. Maybe your struggle isn’t what your calling is, maybe your struggle is feeling worthy of your calling, or maybe your afraid of how following your calling is going to change your life.
Guess what? Your calling isn’t about you. It’s about leading others to Jesus, and changing the lives of others.
We are chosen. Deuteronomy 10:15-16 says, "The Lord chose your ancestors as the objects of His love. And he chose you, their descendants, above all other nations, as is evident today. Therefore, change your hearts, and stop being stubborn.” He knew all the mistakes we’d make, and He still chose us. Let’s stop making excuses. Let’s find confidence in our shortcomings and seek to find where we can use the gifts God has given us. Let’s stop being stubborn!
I wish I was confident in what God has called me to do, but I’m not. It can be intimidating and overwhelming, and I have finally began to realize that the strength to fulfill the calling that God has on my life doesn’t come from me. I just need to be a vessel willing to be used. He will do the rest.
"For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:6-7
God gave us each special gifts, talents and passions. While we may have similar gifts, we may not use them in the same way, or be able to reach the same people. God has fully equipped each and every one of us with everything we need to fulfill our calling. There is someone on the other side of our obedience.
