Be Thankful
Imagine that you are on vacation at the beach. How does the scent of the salt water, sound of the waves crashing on the shore, and the beauty of the evening sunset, make you feel? Does it make you feel content? Does it give you peace and satisfaction and fill you with joy? But, what if we were to experience those things every single day. What if we woke up every morning to the sounds of the waves and drove home from work each night as the sunsets in the background. Would you still find the beauty as breathtaking? Would you still find joy in those things?
At the beginning of each day, we open our eyes. We have clean air to breathe, and a functioning body. Do you look at each day as if it’s a gift? Or do you wake up dreading the day and all of the things on your to-do list? I think most of us take for granted that we woke up this morning.
We look for things to fill God shaped holes in our hearts. Some of us search for a person to make us feel complete, some of us participate in experiences hoping that they will bring us back to life, and some fo us want to go places that we think will give us a sense of belonging. What if we spent more time appreciating what we have instead of focusing on what we lack.
Don’t let life pass you by. Find beauty in the mundane and be grateful for what you have in your life and the people you have in your life.
Tomorrow isn’t a guarantee so love those that God has given you to love, and be thankful.
